Loving-Kindness Meditation

Vishen Lakhiani is an inspirational thought leader.  He has gone through the dark night of the soul, and it has only made him stronger.  He has used his experiences to empower himself and those around him.  His recent Instagram post on how to put the loving-kindness meditation into your daily practice is part of his global vision for healing and the betterment of humanity.  Imagine a world where we all joined forces and meditated on loving-kindness together.  Peace on Earth and love to all!

As part of the @2019newyearnewyou campaign I wanted to share my tip for 2019. ⠀ First, if you’re new here – know that several @mindvalley authors are sharing incredible tips on powerful transformational techniques on this instagram account: @2019newyearnewyou. ⠀ Here’s my tip: ⠀ This is actually the first thing I do every morning and I’ve been doing it for 5 years straight. It’s a form of meditation called the Loving-Kindness meditation. (If you’re familiar with my 6Phase technique — this is Phase 1.) ⠀ This meditation is about training you to be a more compassionate, kind soul. I just interviewed the great meditation teacher @sharonsalzberg , the author of “Real Happiness” and she suggested that everyone do this every day. ⠀ If all of us did this I believe humanity would be operating at a completely different level. The process I’m suggesting below is my adaption of this Buddhist practice, plus advice from Salzberg and techniques from the @HeartMath Institute.🧘‍♀️ ⠀ 1. Bring to mind the face of someone you truly love. It could be a child, a pet, a partner etc. Feel the love for them in your heart. ❤️ ⠀ 2. Give this feeling of love a color. Imagine it as a colourful light within your heart. ⠀ 3. Now breathe in and out. As you exhale, imagine this light to expand to fill your entire body with this essence of love. ⠀ 4. Continue breathing and with every exhale imagine this light of love and compassion to expand into wider and wider circles to include the world around you…⠀ First your home & all life in it. Then your city. Then your country. Then your continent. Then the entire world.🌎 ⠀ 5. The last image should be that of the Earth, covered in the light of this love. ⠀ 6. As you exhale and see this love expanding, repeat a mantra like “May you live life with ease.” ⠀ Try it. And let me know the results. I do this every day. It reminds me to live a life or service, to see myself as a citizen of the world, and to put the human race and the ecology above all else. ⠀ But beyond that it causes you to see the world as a safer, more loving place. ❤️🌏 ⠀ Share your thoughts below. ⠀ And follow @2019newyearnewyou for more tips. ⠀ 📷 by @karenharmsphotography
