Garlic

(Allium Sativum)

 

Fun Fact:  Only 60 years ago, garlic was an important part of standard issue medical kits carried by medics.  In World War I and II, medics used garlic to treat wounds.

 

Properties:

  • anti-bacterial
  • anti-fungal
  • anti-viral
  • antioxidant
  • immune system stimulant that aids heart health
  • blood thinner
  • lowers cholesterol

 

Cold or flu, be gone!

In conjunction with a healthy diet and enough sleep, it can knock out a cold or flu in less than 24 hours.  It kills the unhelpful bacteria in your gut.

 

Hot tips:

  • Eat it raw.
  • Buy organic.
  • Use a mincer.
  • If you’re cooking with it, mince it first, and let it sit for 10 minutes before you add it to your cooking.
  • Put it in guacamole.
  • My guacamole recipe: avocado, raw garlic, lime juice, cumin, cayenne, salt.
